Villagers rushed to save the 20ft snake on Thursday night after it became coiled around the lifeless body of the animal.
The 8 men pulled the livestock out of the python's mouth but by then it had died.
The goat's owner Rohul Amin was left devastated by the attack in Jalpaiguri, east India.
He said: "This is not the first time pythons have come out of the forest and attacked domestic animals.
"They have killed two to three cows, lambs and sheep in a year.
"I am heartbroken with my loss. I had never imagined my goat would meet with end this way."
Narayan Kar, the forest officer who rushed to the scene, identified the snake as a Burmese Rock Python.
